You are responsible for attending each assigned game in your group. This is part of your grade. If you do not show, your grade will be docked. If you are late, your grade will be docked. If you cannot attend that game, you may find a replacement. If that replacement does not show, that is the original persons responsibility and you will be docked accordingly. Work is not an excuse for losing. Please wear appropriate day outfits to games.

September Updates

Hey everyone! 

School is well underway and cheer is in full swing. Things are going well and I have not had any cheerleader let me know of any confusion regarding cheer/schedule/uniform/etc. I have heard that some parents are concerned there is not enough coach to parent communication. However, I want to remind everyone that I am the student-cheer coach, not the parent-cheer coach. Keeping that in mind, please keep this email as a reminder of upcoming events through the end of fall sports. I also update the blog more frequently then the email chain, so plenty of questions can be answered by referring to that.  

Competition Choreography

As mentioned on the calendar, we will begin competition choreography on Thursday, September 15. Cameron Larsen from UCA will be choreographing for us. He will be in class this Thursday, as well as next Wednesday, September 21, and Friday, September 23. If we need to schedule additional practices, we will do so well in advance so everyone has time to rearrange their schedule. 

The choreography fee was mentioned on the initial outline prior to tryouts as well as the price list handed out during our first parent meeting. If your cheerleader had 5 little cheerleaders during our fundraiser, they will not need to pay the choreography fee. I have notified each cheerleader what they owe in regard to the choreography this morning during practice. 

Music is not included in this fee, so we will need to fundraise for the music, which is being held at the concession stands during the football game.

We need two additional parents to sign up for the last two games. As of right now, we have the following signed up to help. 

10/14 - Homecoming | First half:

10/19 - UEA Wednesday | First half: Kim Donehoo, Jolene Garner
                                        Second half: 

Please let me know as soon as possible to fill these positions. This money is going to the cheer fun directly for music and homecoming. 

OMG SITE

I talked with Jess, our Under Armour rep. She has agreed to open up the OMG Site for one additional week. The site is a great place to find UA Laker gear at a discounted rate. If you are planning on attending nationals, this is where you will want to purchase any 'fan gear'. Please remember, a portion of all proceeds go to the cheer fund. Once this is open, I will post it on the blog. 


Payment plan for Nationals

Each payment of $150 (per person) is due on the 15th of every month. Please have your cheerleader give me the receipt upon payment. I have spaced out the payments in order to accommodate for the holidays and such coming up. All payments need to be paid in full by January 30 or your flight and hotel will be canceled, all money paid forfeited, and reservations canceled. 

Region and State Competition dates

Region will be January 21, and State on January 28. All cheerleaders will be required to be there 2 weeks prior as stated in the constitution. Please block out those dates so we can have a large audience at each competition. 

As of right now, the only other competition we have scheduled prior is the Roy High School comp. 

Homecoming

Homecoming game is October 14. We will be performing at half time during that game. Please plan accordingly if you are planning to attend this game. 

Region and State Football; Grades

Region and state football schedules will come up quickly and all schedules need to be accommodated to support the team. Since cheerleaders are allowed to play one additional sport in addition to cheer or there are some academic requirements in order to continue to participate in cheer, please make sure your individual cheerleader is caught up on all academics and other activities. Midterms are coming up, and each cheerleader will be required to bring a copy of their grades to ensure they are on schedule to continue eligibility in the sport. Cheer is also a class, and midterm grades will be given in regard to cheerleader's participation, attendance, tardies, and attitude. 

Sign Fundraiser

The sign fundraiser is still going. This is a great way to make money for nationals. I've talked to the cheerleaders about contacting the football team, soccer team, tennis team, grandparents, parents, etc. This is an extremely easy sale and I would encourage everyone to participate in this. All sales go directly to each cheerleader.

If the appropriate practice wear isn't worn, demerits will be given.

Photo Directions

Here are directions to the photoshoot location. There are two options so please make sure you decide PRIOR to heading to the dam.

Option 1

Park at Swimmers beach and taxi over via boat we have provided.
To get to swimmers beach, go north over the bridge on the west side of the dam, toward the main marina. About a mile down the road, on the right hand side, there will be an area to park and hike down to the beach. Matt Florence will pick you up there. Please plan on being there at 5:15, in order to get everyone across in a reasonable amount of time.

Option 2

Park at Middle Inlet. Head north on the east side of the dam, past the turnoff for cemetery point. Continue north until you see a brown sign and turn left. It will be $13 for each car.

I've asked the girls to bring their dresses and uniforms on a hanger covered in plastic in order to keep everything clean prior to pictures.

We will also be having a small get-together afterward, which parents are welcome to join.

Again, a quick reminder for photos - neutral color dresses, shell top, along with their skirt. Please put money for Amber in an envelope with the cheerleaders name along with the package they have decided on.

Photos

As you all know, our team photos will be on August 8, beginning at 6pm. As of right now, the photos will be at Pineview Reservoir at Cemetery Point. If we do not get our uniforms in time, we will need to reschedule. Below are the packages available for the photos. Amber Togisala is going to be our photographer. I've worked with her a lot in the past and I think she will be able to achieve what we are looking for this year.  All cheerleaders will need to have their photo taken for the team photo, and also one individual for the display case. The cheerleaders will need to wear an EARTH TONE colored dress. Boys will be in either a suit or a shirt and tie.  That means creams, blush, tan, brown, white. NOT BRIGHT PURPLE, BLUE OR ORANGE! (Odd that I have to explain that, but I do). They will also need to bring their uniform (crossing fingers we get it this week).

Hospitality

This group will be in charge of getting treats (small treats similar to a tootsie pop or blow pop) for the opposing team's cheerleaders. This is only for home games.

They will also be responsible for a small treat for BHS teams for the initial start of the year 'Good Luck'. This will also be a small treat similar to a blow pop or something you can get in a bag.

Camp

Hey everyone!

Sponsorship forms


Below you will find the link to the sponsorship forms. There will not be a requirement as to how many sponsors each cheerleader will need to attain. There is a spot on the form that the sponsor must fill out in regard to what percentage they would like to go to the individual cheerleader vs the cheer fund as a whole. The cheerleader MUST be mentioned on the form in order for them to get credit. Please make sure you print both papers and staple them upon finding a sponsor.

Yard Sign Fundraiser


Hey everyone!!!

As I've mentioned in the previous parent meeting and in other emails, we are giving as many fundraising opportunities available to help everyone pay for this year and for nationals! That being said, here is another fundraiser!!! If you have questions, please contact Monique or Holly! Please reference the contact sheet for phone numbers.

Yard sign- $15 each, $1 for personalization

Stickers- $8 each 

(Great for cars, front windows, businesses, and binders/notebooks) 

Order will be placed on June 15!!! Please have all orders to Monique by that time. Profits are listed as follows:

This is honestly an easy fundraiser. It is not required of each cheerleader, but a great money maker! Find those that are Laker fans, football fans, basketball fans, Lakettes, etc!!!

Costa Vida Benefit Night

Hey everyone!!! 

We will be hosting a benefit night at Costa Vida in South Ogden on Wednesday May 25 from 5-9!!! Please blast the information on all social media channels in order to drive as much traffic there as possible. We will need to have at least 5 cheerleaders sign up per hour in order to promote to all customers. Everyone must wear a BHS uniform!!! A sign up sheet will be passed around during class. If you have a preference on time, please txt me ASAP! All profits will go to the cheer fund directly, but will determine how many little cheerleaders will be required during that fundraiser. - I. E. If we raise a lot of money via Costa Vida, we will only require x amount of cheerleaders, then everything after that goes straight to you!

Uniform Fitting Schedule

Please take note of your uniform fitting time. Also, we encourage the moms to attend to OK the sizes. Cheerleaders, please wear a sport bra and bums underneath your clothing in order for us to be able to see appropriate sizes.

MANDATORY parent meeting on Monday, March 28 at 6pm in Mr Kendell’s room. At that time, please bring a receipt of the first $200 payment. Let the bookkeeper know it is for 2016-2017 BHS CHEER. I DO NOT TAKE MONEY, ONLY RECEIPTS! At that time, we will have a cost breakdown for the following year. We will also have scheduled practices through out the rest of the school year, and a calendar with important dates coming up.

Night to Remember

The BHS 2015-16 cheer night to remember will take place April 18 at 6 pm in the big gym. All current and future cheerleaders are required to attend.

Mandatory Safety Clinic

All 2016-2017 cheerleaders are REQUIRED to attend the safety clinic on May 11 @ 4pm. It will go until 7pm. There will not be any exceptions!!! Location is TBD but we will meet at BHS prior and carpool over.

Parade Dates

Here are the Parade dates for 16-17. We will be participating in two parades, South Ogden Days and Washington Terrace Days.

Washington Terrace Days:

June 11 @ 5pm. We will meet at 4:15 to warm up. Cheerleaders are free to go after parade concludes.

South Ogden Days:

Little Cheerleader Fundraiser takes place June 15-17 at 8:30am-10am. It is mandatory for each cheerleader to find 10 little cheerleaders to participate! This is a huge fundraiser so get working on it now.

Parade: June 18 @ 9am. We will meet at 8am in front of South Ogden Jr High to hand out t-shirts, tie sleeves, and paint faces. Cheerleaders are free to go after every little cheerleader has found a parent and left the area.
